What to Expect with the New FAFSA

The Federal government has a long-standing responsibility to students and institutions of higher education because of their critical role in determining eligibility for federal student aid. The tumultuous rollout of the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) persisting into a second year places federal student aid at the forefront of concerns for the higher education community. Jeremy Singer, then-president of The College Board, was appointed FAFSA Executive Advisor in the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) to lead the FAFSA overall strategy and accelerate technology innovation to further enhance FSA’s technical and operational capabilities. As institutions grapple with the effects on their campuses of both the FAFSA delay and the changes made to determine student aid eligibility, Mr. Singer will share his perspective and expectations for the future.
