Members of Congress can celebrate and advance the diversity of the nation's private, nonprofit colleges and universities through the Congressional Independent College Caucus (CICC). Since 2017, the CICC has offered members the opportunity to learn about the challenges and issues these institutions face.
About
The Caucus serves as an informal group of Members dedicated to addressing the issues related to private, nonprofit colleges and the students they serve, while educating colleagues on the issues facing independent colleges and universities.
In the 119th Congress, Rep. Deborah Ross (D-NC) and Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) serve as co-chairs. At the start of the new Congress, there are 59 caucus members, including two Senators and 57 Representatives.
To celebrate the CICC, each year NAICU holds a reception each February during the NAICU Annual Meeting & Advocacy Day.
