Round-up: Biden Administration Proposes New Overtime Threshold

The U.S. Department of Labor has issued a proposed rule lifting the overtime pay cutoff for salaried workers to $55,000 from the $35,000 threshold set during the Trump Administration.  It is estimated that about 3.6 million would effectively gain overtime pay eligibility under the proposed rule, according to the department.

While the rule maintains the educator exemption, it will have substantial impact on the budgets of many private, nonprofit colleges and universities.
