A Potential Path Forward for Pell Grant Expansion

Bipartisan legislation to expand the Pell Grant to workforce training programs that run between eight and 14 weeks could move forward this week, months after the bill’s sponsors pulled it off the House floor at the last minute before a vote. Now sponsors of the Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act are trying to attach the bill as an amendment to a national security and military bill that must pass before the end of the year. It’s one of more than 1,300 proposed amendments on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2025, which could receive a floor vote this week.
