Round-up: Linda McMahon Nominated for Education Secretary

Former cabinet official and pro-wrestling executive Linda McMahon has been nominated by Donald Trump to serve as the next Education Secretary. During the first Trump Administration, she served as administrator of the Small Business Administration.

The Associated Press described McMahon as a  relative unknown in education circles, though she has expressed support for charter schools and school choice. She previously served on the Connecticut Board of Education in 2009 before resigning to run for the U.S. Senate and served for several years on the board of trustees at Sacred Heart University (CT).

During confirmation hearings for the SBA post, she told lawmakers that she had a lifelong interest in education and once planned to become a teacher, a goal that fell aside after her marriage.
