Former Bridgewater College President Named as Possible Special Fiduciary for Sweet Briar

He’s the former president of Bridgewater College, a Harrisonburg attorney who has led the Virginia Bar Association, and he chaired the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges Committee on Colleges.  Now Phillip Stone Sr. may become a player in the ongoing struggle over the future of Sweet Briar College.  Amherst County Attorney Ellen Bowyer filed a motion late last week asking Bedford County Circuit Court Judge James Updike to consider appointing Stone to the role of special fiduciary for the college.
