College Presidents Join Calls for Tolerance

The presidents of both Oneonta colleges spoke out via email this weekend against acts of harassment, hate and violence that have taken place in the nation since Donald Trump was elected president of the United States two weeks ago, officials said. Margaret Drugovich, president of Hartwick College, joined more than 100 other college presidents Friday in signing a group letter to President-elect Trump, urging him to “immediately reaffirm the core values of our democratic nation: human decency, equal rights, freedom of expression and freedom from discrimination.”  On Sunday morning, Nancy Kleniewski, president of the State University College at Oneonta, forwarded a similar letter written by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to college faculty, staff, students and their families, adding a message of her own that denounced discrimination.
