Evangelical College Presidents Ask Haley to Oppose Transgender Directive

Presidents of seven evangelical Christian colleges in South Carolina have urged Gov. Nikki Haley to oppose any attempt to restrict religious freedom, including an Obama administration directive requiring public schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms of their choice. In a letter to the governor Monday, the college presidents, including Jairy Hunter of Charleston Southern University, warned Haley that Obama’s mandate could violate “the privacy and modesty of students who may object on the basis of their deeply held religious values” by requiring them to use the bathroom with transgender students.
