How Gallaudet University’s Architects Are Redefining Deaf Space

The DeafSpace Design Guidelines drawn up at Gallaudet recently won an award from the International Association of Universal Design. Not bad for a university that doesn’t have an architecture school (yet). And late last year, the university launched an international design competition for remaking part of the campus and adding an iconic "gateway" at its southwest corner on Sixth Street and Florida Avenue Northeast.
