Jennifer Braaten, Who Oversaw Ferrum College's Resurgence, to Retire

When Jennifer Braaten became the first woman to serve as president of Ferrum College in 2002, she never expected she’d stick around for 14 years. Originally, she was thinking more like three to five years. But once she arrived at the college in Franklin County, VA, Braaten said, she realized there was no other place like it. Then she couldn’t leave.But this summer, she will. On Tuesday, Braaten announced her plans to retire after the end of the academic year.
