Fairfield University Names New, Non-Jesuit President

Mark R. Nemec, a dean at the University of Chicago, will become Fairfield University’s ninth president and the first non-Jesuit to hold the office.  Nemec, 47, was chosen by the University’s Board of Trustees. He starts in July, at a salary that was not disclosed.  The Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, who left in December, was making $382,935, according to the university’s 2015 financial documents, the latest available.
