Union College's New President Is First African-American to Lead the College

Union College announced Tuesday that its next president will be David R. Harris, a sociologist and scholar who is currently the provost and senior vice president at Tufts University.  The appointment makes college history. Harris will be the first black person ever to lead the private Schenectady college, which has had 18 presidents over its 223-year history. He will succeed Stephen Ainlay, who has led the institution for 12 years. His term begins July 1.
