Glover Says Leading Edward Waters Lifted a Burden

After eight years of leading one of the nation’s oldest historically black colleges, Nat Glover feels redeemed. 
The retiring president of Edward Waters (FL) said he feels his time leading the small, private college has lifted a burden on his heart. That burden comes from decades as a police officer, detective and later as Duval sheriff, where he was responsible for pulling numerous young people, criminals, out of their communities and putting them behind bars. Those convictions made the community safer, Glover said this week, but they also left holes in families and neighborhoods. Glover said it has weighed on his psyche over the years.
