Marquette University Rejects Call to House Homeless in Vacant Building

Marquette University (WI) on Tuesday said the Jesuit institution is not in a position to use its facilities, "vacant or otherwise," to provide winter shelter to the city's homeless. The statement from university spokeswoman Lynn Sheka came shortly after Alds. Bob Donovan and Mark Borkowski held a news conference near a homeless encampment to press the university to open the former 155-room Ramada Hotel, now owned by the university, to open its doors to those without shelter.
