Reed College Selects Audrey Bilger as 16th President

Reed College’s (OR) Board of Trustees has appointed Audrey Bilger as the school’s 16th president. She is the first woman to be selected for the job. Bilger is a professor of English and is currently the vice president for academic affairs and dean at Pomona College. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. in English from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s in philosophy from Oklahoma State University.  Bilger will succeed acting president Hugh Porter starting July 1. Porter was selected to lead the college after former President John Kroger stepped down in 2018. Porter will resume his role as vice president for college relations.
