Bierman says that Beloit, like many other liberal-arts colleges, has failed at describing what it does — to its own students and faculty members, as well as to off-campus audiences. “We have not done a sufficient job of explaining our value proposition. It’s as simple as that,” he says. Now the college needs to double down on demonstrating “the humanity of Beloit College” to prospective students.
