After Years of Being Led By Nuns, N.J. University Gets Its First Male Lay President

More than 80 years after it was founded by Catholic nuns as a women’s college, Caldwell University has named its first male lay president. Matthew Whelan, a vice president at Stony Brook University in Long Island, will take over as president of Caldwell University on July 1, school officials announced Tuesday.
