USC Settles Sex-Abuse Claims Against Campus Gynecologist for $852 Million

The University of Southern California has agreed to pay an additional $852 million to settle sexual-misconduct claims brought against a longtime school gynecologist, a sum that plaintiffs' lawyers said was the largest sex-abuse settlement ever paid by a university. The settlement, announced Thursday, resolves lawsuits from 710 plaintiffs who brought abuse and harassment allegations against George Tyndall, who worked as a gynecologist at USC for nearly 30 years.
