Shirley Ann Jackson to Leave RPI Presidency in 2022

Shirley Ann Jackson announced Friday that she will step down in 2022 as president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has been president since 1999. Jackson has been acclaimed as a fundraiser at RPI, where the endowment is now worth more than $1 billion. She has pushed, with success, to modernize the science facilities at RPI and has encouraged students to pursue internships or research opportunities. She has frequently clashed with the faculty but maintained board support.
