Don't Let Small Colleges Fade Away - Editorial

The Times Union Editorial Board writes:  What would the Capital Region be like without its small private colleges? No one should relish the prospect of finding out. Colleges such as Skidmore, Union and Saint Rose define their neighborhoods and the larger communities around them. They contribute to intellectual and artistic vibrancy. They draw newcomers and boost the economy. With so many small colleges in these parts, they provide us with a competitive advantage over areas of the country that might offer gentler weather or lower taxes. In other words, we are fortunate to have them.
