Round-up: Columbia University President Faces House Education Committee on Antisemitism on Campus - April 17

Columbia University President Minouche Shafik, D.Phill., is on Capitol Hill today for a hearing on antisemitism on campus with the House Committee on Education and Workforce, chaired by Rep. Virginia Fox (R-NC).  Joining the Columbia president are Claire Shipman and David Greenwald, the co-chairs of Columbia’s Board of Trustees, and former Columbia Law School Professor David Schizer, who is co-chair of the university’s antisemitism task force, which released its first set of recommendations last month on rules for campus demonstrations.

The hearing is a follow-up to an explosive hearing held in December 2023 that resulted in the resignations of University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill and Harvard University President Claudine Gay, Ph.D.
