Hilbert President Michael Brophy to Step Down in 2026

After seven years at the helm of Hilbert College, President Michael Brophy is stepping down in June 2026 while he pursues a college administrative role closer to his extended family. Brophy, who joined Hilbert in 2019 as the school’s fourth president, will leave at the end of his current contract term after guiding the small liberal arts college in Hamburg through the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a period of transformation. He is a finalist to be chosen as president of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, near Albany, but insists that he remains focused on continuing to lead Hilbert and ensuring a smooth transition.
