AAUP Secretary Calls for Transformation of Higher Education

In one of his first major speeches since becoming General Secretary of the American Association of University Professors, Gary Rhoades has called for a broad transformation of higher education, with a new focus on the "intellectual capital" provided by colleges and universities.  In the speech before the Higher Education Group of Washington, he also called for framing higher education as a public good, rather than as a narrow benefit to students and their families.  (Full text of speech)
