Department of Education Announcements

Here's a quick summary of recent Department of Education announcements that may be of interest, with links to the Department Web site for more details.

 

• Campus-based Programs (March 31, 2009)
  2009-2010 Final Funding Authorizations for the Campus-Based Programs
  This announcement provides total funding levels and an explanation of how the additional stimulus funds were allocated.  Individual-institution-level information is available, but requires registration by the institution.
  
  
  
• Grants (March 30, 2009)  
  Updated Listing of TEACH Grant Eligible Institutions
  Note that updates to the list will be posted as additional institutions are approved.
  
  
  
• Financial Aid (April 2, 2009)
  Use of "Professional Judgment" by Financial Aid Administrators
  Because of the economic situation, the issue of "professional judgment" could face more financial aid administrators this year.  For example, students may request exceptions because a family's current financial status might not be reflected in the need formula, which is based on the prior year's income.
