Gainful Employment Reporting Deadline Extended to Nov. 15

Since mid-July, the Department of Education has issued six additional announcements concerning its regulations on "gainful employment," for a total of 18.  Most of the recent announcements concern technical aspects of the reporting requirements or updates to on-line functionality.

The key announcement for colleges, however, is that the October 1, 2011, reporting deadline for submitting information on the 2006-07 through 2009-10 award years has been extended to November 15, 2011.  That is also the deadline for reporting information for the 2010-11 award year (Announcement # 15).

While these regulations are extremely complicated, the Department has created a gainful employment website that is well-organized, and includes the regulations, updates, and a question and answer section.
