House Democrats Hold Forum on Racial Discrimination on College Campuses
In the wake of “national conversations on white supremacy, xenophobia, and racial inequality,” as well possible investigations of schools’ affirmative action programs and violent protests at the University of Virginia, Democrats on the House Education and the Workforce and Judiciary Committees convened a joint forum to discuss race discrimination on college campuses. Participants discussed a wide range of topics, including federal laws that prohibit race discrimination in higher education, recent discriminatory incidents on college campuses, and the challenges that institutions face when trying to balance free speech, racial inclusion, and student safety.
