NAICU Joins with Higher Education Community in Providing Comments Concerning Overtime Regulations
In July, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued a Request for Information (RFI) to generate feedback on overtime regulations, namely the overtime salary level, including identifying exempt versus non-exempt employees, setting a new salary level, and whether a different salary level would be more effective.
The College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), joined by NAICU, took the lead in offering comments on how the overtime rule could be updated to work effectively for colleges and universities and their employees.
The comments respond to a specific set of questions put forth by DOL as it starts a new federal rulemaking process on addressing the overtime threshold.
Recently, a federal court in Texas struck down the final rule issued during the Obama Administration. This RFI begins the process again in the current administration.
