Title IX Lawsuit Dismissed
A federal district court in Maryland has dismissed a legal challenge to the Trump Administration’s new Title IX sexual harassment regulations. The case, which was brought by Know Your IX in conjunction with the American Civil Liberties Union and several other advocacy organizations, was dismissed based on the court’s ruling that the plaintiffs lacked the required standing to sue.
The now-dismissed case was one of four lawsuits challenging the validity of the Title IX regulations. The three other suits remain pending, though there are some signs that those cases may face similar difficulties in terms of succeeding, either procedurally or on the merits. As a result, it appears likely that the new regulations will remain in effect for the time being.
