National Voter Registration Day Breaks Record
The National Voter Registration Day organization reported that its national effort to register voters has resulted in an estimated 1.5 million new or updated voter registrations, a single-year record. In its ninth year, Voter Registration day, which was September 22, had netted nearly 3 million registrants over the previous eight national registration days combined.
Voter registration deadlines are ticking away as Election Day approaches on November 3. As a reminder, colleges and universities must make a good-faith effort to provide voter registration forms to students by the registration deadlines in their states. Links and information about voter registration may be found on NAICU’s Your Vote, Your Voice website.
Once registered, students, faculty and community members can use the U.S. Vote Foundation’s website to learn about state requirements on returning ballots, track their ballots, and check early voting dates.
Please share voter education, registration and get-out-the vote efforts here: vote@naicu.edu.
