Department of Education Announces Applications for MSI/SIP Funding in CRRSAA
The Education Department announced this week a 90 day application period for Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and institutions participating in the Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) that did not receive funding under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES), but were listed on the MSI/SIP allocation tables for the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) of 2021.
Institutions that received MSI and SIP funds under the CARES Act and were listed in the MSI/SIP allocation tables by the Department, do not need to apply for funding as they will simply receive a supplemental award.
If an institution has not complied with all CARES Act reporting requirements, their supplemental award could be delayed and/or may receive awards with a restriction on the ability to draw down those awarded funds until all CARES Act reporting is complete.
Institutions must expend funds received under this program within 12 months of obligation of the funds by the Department.
