Upcoming Title IX Hearing Open for Public Comments
The Department of Education has opened registration for the upcoming public hearing on Title IX and released a notice containing additional details about the hearing process. The public hearing is the first step in the Department’s comprehensive review of the agency’s Title IX regulations, guidance, and related policies.
NAICU is planning to submit written comments and encourages NAICU member institutions to submit oral or written comments as well.
The virtual hearing is designed to solicit public feedback on the Department’s plan to rewrite the Title IX sexual harassment regulations issued by the Trump Administration. The hearing will be held on the following dates and times (all times are Eastern time):
Individuals who participate in the hearing may provide live comments of up to three minutes, written comments, or both. Individuals may attend the live hearing, which will be held in audio format. A written transcript of the hearing will also be made available.
Participants should use the registration link to sign up in order to provide live comments. Written comments, which must be received by 5 p.m. EDT on June 11, may be submitted via email at T9PublicHearing@ed.gov. An attendee-only link will also be posted on the Department’s Office for Civil Rights newsroom website.
