DOL Hosting Additional Listening Sessions on Overtime Rules
In advance of releasing a proposed rule that would change the exemptions to the federal overtime pay requirements, the Department of Labor (DOL) has scheduled five regional listening sessions for employers in May and June.
Currently, DOL is planning on proposing an adjustment to the overtime salary threshold this fall. While it’s unclear what amount will be proposed, there is some congressional support for significantly increasing the amount, which would be problematic for many employers, including many private, nonprofit colleges and universities.
NAICU encourages any member institution concerned with an increase to the current overtime threshold of $35,568 to participate in a listening session to discuss the campus impact of such a change.
