Grants Available to Help Native American and Low-Income Students

A notice was issued by the Department of Education inviting applications for new awards for the Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions (NASNTI). This program provides grants to eligible institutions of higher education to assist them in improving and expanding their capacity to serve Native Americans and low-income students.

The Department is expecting to award a total of six grants with a maximum award of $350,000 for a year. Applications are due July 11, 2022.

This competition includes two competitive preference priorities aimed at providing comprehensive student supports, including: (1) meeting student social, emotional, and academic needs; and (2) increasing postsecondary education access, affordability, completion, and post-enrollment success.
