Host a 2024 Presidential or Vice Presidential Debate
The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is accepting applications from sites interested in hosting a 2024 general election presidential or vice presidential debate.
According to the CPD, since 1988, all but three of its debates have been held on college and university campuses. During a NAICU annual meeting session several years ago on this topic, NAICU presidents described the experience of hosting presidential and vice presidential debates as a valuable opportunity for students to see this important political process up close and in-person and participate in the on-site television and radio production processes. They also highlighted the academic and curricular opportunities that extend from hosting such a debate.
To request an application and a complete set of guidelines, which include facility, security, city service and other requirements, please email applications@debates.org. The deadline to submit a proposal to host a debate is April 28, 2023.
