Applications for Child Care Access Means Parents in School Grants

The Department of Education opened the application process for $13.6 million in grants under the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program, which helps institutions of higher education provide campus-based child care services. Institutions, including private, nonprofit colleges and universities, are eligible to apply if they awarded a total of $250,000 or more in Pell Grant funds during FY 2022.

The Department estimates it will make 27 awards between $500,000 and $1 million. Applications are due July 31, 2023.

The CCAMPIS grant application will look at the following priorities when evaluating applications:
  • Absolute Priority 1: Projects that are designed to leverage significant local or institutional resources, including in-kind contributions, to support the activities of CCAMPIS.
  • Absolute Priority 2: Projects that are designed to utilize a sliding fee scale for child care services provided by the program in order to support a high number of low-income parents pursuing postsecondary education at the institution.
  • Competitive Priority: Projects that strengthen cross-agency coordination and community engagement to advance systemic change, for example supporting the establishment of a Head Start Center on campus.
  • Invitational Priority 1: Projects supporting students who are single parents.
  • Invitational Priority 2: Projects increasing the quality of child care for low-income parents on campus.
  • Invitational Priority 3: Projects providing wrap around services for low-income students who are parents on campus.
