Release of Title IX Rules Delayed
The Department of Education announced that it is delaying publication of final Title IX rules related to sex discrimination and sexual harassment on campus until October.
Although the Department initially planned to release the Title IX rules in May of this year, the agency appears to need additional time to review the more than 240,000 comments it received in response to publication of the proposed rules.
Separately, the Department updated its regulatory agenda to note that it plans to release final Title IX regulations on athletics in October as well.
Despite the target date of October for both sets of Title IX rules, it is always possible that the timing could shift again down the road.
