$36 Million in Strengthening Institutions Program Grants Available

The Department of Education announced the availability of more than $36 million in awards via a new round of Strengthening Institutions Program grants.  There will be about 80 awards given, with grants ranging from $400,000 to $550,000.

Institutions are eligible under the Higher Education Act Title III-Part A, which serves low-resourced institutions that serve a high percentage of low-income students.  Eligible institutions have until May 22, 2023, to apply.

Generally, SIP provides grants to institutions to help them expand their capacity to serve low-income students by improving and strengthening academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability. This round of awards will have a competitive preference for applications that increase college access, affordability, completion, and post-enrollment success.

Institutions should use the Common Instructions, updated in December 2022, to submit applications.
