FAFSA Process Adjustments Continue
By the end of June, the Department of Education will begin processing paper filings of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and will create a manual process for institution-initiated corrections, the agency announced last week. Institutions will not be able to batch-process institutional corrections until sometime in July.
The Department has indicated that less than one-half of one percent of 2024-25 FAFSA submissions are paper forms, with a portion of those also being duplicate forms that students submitted during the repeated delays to get a date stamp for their records in order to qualify for certain state aid programs.
Institution-initiated corrections will be available through the FAFSA Partner Portal by the end of June, which will allow institutions to manually enter corrections. Batch-processing of corrections through the Electronic Data Exchange are expected to become available sometime in early- to mid-July.
