FAFSA Updates

In a status update from the Department of Education, the agency announced that 10 million Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms have been successfully transmitted this cycle. This total is 2.7 million more than last year (39% growth) and 400,000 more than in 2023-24 (4% growth), which was the last time the form launched on October 1.

The Department is also working toward additional improvements to the submission process and underlying technology by simplifying the way parents and contributors are invited to complete their portion of the form, streamlining the way the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service verify contributor identities, and strengthening the overall stability of the platform.
