An op-ed, which means "opposite the editorial page," placed in local, regional or national publications are an effective method to reach decisionmakers, policymakers and legislators. Below are several templates, designed for use by presidents from various types of NAICU member institutions. Each are meant to be customized to your institition. Additionally, while we worked to create templates for certain types of institutions, you may find that the overall messaging of another template matches your campus characteristics more closely.
Op-eds should generally be around 750-1,000 words, depending on the publication. Each publication will have op-ed guidelines for length, submission process, and exclusivity on their website.
